The Tree (Træet)

a secret club: The Tree / Træet

At the end of March, a secret club grew a magical red tree in a tiny garden inside an old goods train workshop. On the tree's branches sat little critters, creeps and other fabled creatures and day by day there were more. Each time the branches were full, the tree grew a little taller in a quick and sudden burst.
Visitors to the garden could help the tree grow and make their own curious creature. From Thursday, 28th March to Monday, 1st April, we held a free tree-inhabitants making workshop, each day from 12noon to 5pm and everyone was invited.

In the end, the red magical tree had grown so much that it stood over 4 meters tall. Many extra-ordinarily rare creatures of the fanciful, feathered, beaked, scaled, winged, four-legged, two-legged, six-legged, two-headed, horned and long-tailed kind had become its friends and found their place to enjoy the view.

On the white picket fence hung small brown paper tags, telling about the names of all the different species that had populated the tree's branches. However, this "Encyclopedia of Creatures" didn't only tell you about the who-is-who, but also about what each critter preferred foodwise and what their special habits and cunning abilities were.

Below you can see more of our magnificent tree in Lab:land, Den Rå Hal at Godsbanen, Aarhus, Denmark. The beauty of this project was that everything was made from paper!
